Mizzou professor who declared herself 'more than the n-word' grapples with national response

19 minutes ago • By Doug Moore

... “I have lived in Columbia and been at the university for almost 18 years. During this time, I have been called the n-word too many times to count,” Frisby wrote early in her post.

On Thursday, after her posting was published in the Columbia Missourian, then online by Huffington Post and Time magazine, she put a message out to her 4,700 Facebook friends asking for prayers ...

... the demeaning, racially charged responses she began getting with all the attention that came from her Facebook post began taking their toll. Two days after she wrote the post, she said she got an email that became widely distributed on social media.

“You ugly (expletives) are good for one thing: Pickin’ cotton! All of you should be expelled for causing trouble on campus!” ...

The fact that blatant racism is getting more active is no accident. Thanks, Fox Noise, KKKarl Rove, repigs in general.

...is wingnuts getting outraged over tweets, supposedly from Mizzou students, complaining that the Paris attacks are taking attention away from them. How much do you want to bet that these tweets were actually sent by James O'Keefe types?

If you have a Cause that gets lots of attention and something comes along to demote the importance of your cause in the media, it's a fairly natural response. You want the attention for your Cause. It's important. While other things may also be important, that's not your focus.

BLM, inequality, Sanders, etc., etc., all are causes that have had posts making that exact same kind of complaint. Often in really offensive ways--some are "if you're not with us, you should be", but others are "if you're not with us then you are haters and against us, the True and Virtuous Enlightens." Gets wearying after a while.
