Ashes to ashes...the lost cultural heritage sites of Syria

A dated article (2014) by The Guardian showing before and after photos of UNESCO
historic cultural sites lost in the ongoing Syrian war. It's unfathomable that the devastation could be even worse now than what this article reveals. The devastation continues with no end in sight. This country is being literally wiped off the map.
The war in Syria has claimed more than 130,000 lives and, as these images reveal, it is also laying waste to its historic buildings and Unesco-listed sites

(20,582 posts)And Yemen, Lodestar. The people had such pride in their heritage and buildings - so many of which were purposefully wiped out. I posted links showing how they were systematically destroyed.
Sometimes you just want to crawl in a hole and cry ... I can't imagine what the people in these countries must feel.
