PRESCOTT ... U.S. District Court Judge Ronald B. Leighton noted this in a 2013 order, in which he said about a defendants filing, Sovereign citizens are fascinated by capitalization. They appear to believe that capitalizing names has some sort of legal effect.
He appears to believe that by capitalizing United States, he is referring to a different entity than the federal government. For better or for worse, its the same country, Leighton wrote. The Court therefore feels some measure of responsibility to inform Defendant that all the fancy legal-sounding things he has read on the internet are make-believe.
Sovereign citizens have also argued that any court containing a U.S. flag with gold fringe on its edges makes that court an Admiralty court, and ineligible to hear any cases except those involving maritime law. This rationale is routinely ignored by judges ...

(11,564 posts)...how could anyone believe that there is a loophole in the tax code and, really, the entire system of government and jurisprudence, large enough to accommodate an entire carrier group?
That only a handful of assholes who don't want to pay taxes and hope to leverage this idiotic tale into a money-making op by duping the truly hapless have found it?
That the all-watching, all-evil government either remains somehow (not so) blissfully ignorant of this...or knows of it and just hasn't gotten around to fixing it.
It's asinine on its face.
