... he’s convinced millions of Americans that the United States is weak and stupid, a loser to every other country. But if he’s elected, Mexico will be happy to build a wall, China won’t pursue its own interests in the South China Sea, other nations will let us win every trade negotiation, the coal industry will come back, no American business will move a single job overseas and so much money will flow home again that we’ll enlarge our military, save Social Security and make everyone prosperous.
Despite all these boasts, the top Republican elected officials who appeared on Trump’s stage Tuesday were three state legislators. No governor. No senator. No member of Congress. Not many want to stand in the dark shadow of fear and blame Trump casts.
