Week 9: Experts in authoritarianism advise to keep a list of things subtly changing around you...

A blog writer is keeping track:

This was not a good week for our country: this is the longest, and most troubling list. I want to note that the purpose of the authoritarian list is to highlight subtle changes, and so business as usual, as upsetting as it may be — like the GOP’s attempt to repeal the ACA — are not covered. Again, this is a list that is not meant to be partisan, but rather to capture changes in the fabric of our country, so we can refer back, and recall what used to be normal and acceptable.

He takes a deep dive into Altemeyer's research on authoritarians in context of the GOP. It's a good read written by a rather brilliant person.

"To capture the changes in the fabric of our country, so we can refer back, and recall what used to be normal and acceptable "

I'm 73 and haven't written in a diary since my teens, but I bought a journal specifically for this purpose a month ago. When my 28 and 30 year old grandsons are around, I sometimes share with them the way it used to be. This will be a written version that will undoubtedly include my outrage as well.

I am 51 and have never kept a diary. I like your idea, and will begin my journaling today. Thanks for the inspiration
