The Real Hillary Clinton Conspiracy Is What Stuck Us With President Donald Trump

http://www.thedailybeast.com/the-real-hillary-clinton-conspiracy-is-what-stuck-us-with-president-donald-trump

The most royally screwed-over person in the history of American politics should be in the White House, right now.

<snip, more>

I’m sure that like me, you wake up some mornings and don’t know whether to be enraged or depressed or amused, or you hear the words “President Trump” on the radio and still sometimes wonder how the $@ did that happen? Well imagine how Hillary feels. She was the target of the biggest coordinated campaign attack, stretching from the Kremlin to Julian Assange’s sitting room, in the history of American politics. She got zonked by Jim Comey 11 days before the election in a move that was totally without precedent in the history of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. And both of these after a quarter-century smear campaign that alleged everything up to and including murder but that never actually proved—and I mean proved, not “proved” to the satisfaction of millions of people who’d been worked into a state of rage against her over two decades—a single thing of importance that she did that was wrong or unethical. And still she got 3 million more votes.

Three emails marked classified on her server. Three. About things like talking points for a call with the president of Malawi. And two of those may have been marked in error. And that was her great crime? For that, we have to live through this?

She’s the most royally screwed-over person in the history of American politics. She should be in the White House, right now. And she’d have been good. Maybe not great. They wouldn’t allow that. We’d be having impeachment hearings underway already, I assure you, over far smaller matters than the things we know the Trump family has done. That would be rough, but I know this much: She wouldn’t be suddenly discovering that health care is complicated, she wouldn’t have her son-in-law on the White House staff and in charge of Middle East peace, and she wouldn’t be an international embarrassment. The free nations of the world wouldn’t be trying to find ways to work around the United States of America.

That Trump is sitting in that office and not her is a tragedy. And what are we to do if, someday, we learn it was also a crime?

Remember how Michigan and Florida (two states that she won) tried to move up their primaries, so the DNC decided not to count their votes?

How she must feel about the bulls**t meme that the DNC "rigged" it for Bernie in 2016 pretty much beggars description.

I was commenting to my SO on the way to work a couple of days ago about the fog of depression I feel about this. I frankly don't understand why he voted for Obama over Hillary in 2008 in our caucuses, and he frankly refuses to tell me. I ask him if it was about issues and he snaps at me. Neither one of us can let it go, which is not healthy.

It was a toss up for me in 2008 aa I was afraid Obama might not be able to win the general election -- but he has been a terrific and inspiring president, so I haven't regretted any of my votes for him whatsoever.

I think I actually got through to him on this the other day (and, he's a great guy, don't get me wrong, this is just something we can't seem to discuss). It just depresses me, but for the first time in the past 9 years, I think I saw something click with him at how crushed this relentless piling on of the first woman with a real chance to become president has hurt me at a very basic level.

I still see comments on other sites about how the primary was "stolen" and "rigged" to benefit Clinton. I have not forgotten this either. The thing is in spite of this, Hillary and Bill Clinton both came out and enthusiastically campaigned for Obama.

comments about how the DNC "rigged" the primaries in favor of Hillary in 2016.

The Democratic primary rules in 2016 were the SAME rules that had been in place for Democratic primaries since the 80s. Perhaps the scheduling of debates in 2016 could have been changed somewhat, but super-delegates? Whether one agrees with having them or not, one must admit that the concept was specifically adopted in 1982 and has been part of the process in EVERY Dem primary since that time.

But the campaign and supporters of the one who hopped on the DNC's coattails in 2016 wanted everything changed specifically for their own benefit ... and some STILL can't let it go.

So long as they continue raising these unfair and untrue red herrings, I will continue to fume about them.

No do overs on elections allowed. Because a 350 year-old document didn't plan for this crazy circumstance.

The only available solution at present is political...if his repub support falls below 50% or so, the GOP will turn on the whole sick crew. Only then will they force him to resign

But it won't work in this age of invertebrate repubs - not until the polls go much lower.

The good news: he's already lost about a quarter of his support within the first 6 months - a period where he is traditionally supposed to get the benefit of a doubt. His lack of results speaks for itself, and will trigger more losses as we move out of the honeymoon phase of his term.

A lot of people on our side are depressed and avoiding the news. Many on the other side are avoiding news because they're either afraid or in denial. One thing is certain, if you're not outraged then you're not paying attention.

ETA: people have a way of tuning in during milestones though. Hopefully the 6 month point will cause some to reconsider their support. I also think they'll start paying attention once things directly affect them (e.g., wealthcare gets passed) or once Mueller's team makes a statement (which could be a while).

That's the question we ought to be asking ourselves, every single day that the trump monstrosity remains in power.
