A General Just Publicly Accused Trump Of Not Allowing Military To Do Their Jobs In Puerto Rico.

'Last night, a fed-up military general tore into President Trump, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and the Department of Homeland Security’s complete failure to adequately respond to the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Puerto Rico after pictures of the “meals” being handed out to Puerto Ricans leaked to Twitter.

Lt. Gen. Russel Honoré called CBS reporter Josh Sanchez in order to share his frustrations and to remind the American people that we can and should be doing better. . .

Puerto Rico has been without power, clean water, or adequate food for weeks. Each of those weeks, Donald Trump has berated the people of Puerto Rico and their leaders for being forced into debt by their colonial overlords in Washington and gone golfing each of those weekends.

He is systematically and very deliberately neglecting the island of Puerto Rico and its three million American citizens in a terrifying display of what liberal areas and minority areas in the continental United States can come to expect from the federal government should they be struck by some kind of natural disaster.

When the words of our own generals aren’t enough to sway the President, it’s obvious that his decision to prolong the suffering of millions of American is deliberate.'

For today's Republicans, letting non-conservatives get sick and die isn't a bug; it's a feature.

That’s the gist of this cockamamie philosophy of the GOP. Government bad. Government shouldn’t be in the business of helping people. Just making war. You need help? Figure it out for yourself. Stop needing things. Go away. You’re on your own.

If retired, is he immune from repercussions for speaking up? I doubt there is any effective whistle blower protection for active duty military.

Wiki says he retired in 2008.

No matter his status, it's good he's speaking up. The media likes him and hopefully his comments will be repeated.

In https://www.democraticunderground.com/10141888875 there is a link to "How the Pentagon Spun Hurricane Maria". I can imagine the back channel communication that said "increase the number of meals", anyway you can, being implied.

I hope you didn't think I was questioning Honore's actions..

I think 45 and his cronies respect no one. Hence my question about repercussions.

active duty military and support personnel are not allowed to openly talk trash about the President.

Everyone knows our military is capable of amazing things. It's frustrating that our President is the problem in this case.

The same number of popular votes the Dough Turd lost by in the popular vote. I wonder if maybe Trump thinks that, by ignoring the people of that island, he can magically eliminate Hillary's margin over him. It wouldn't surprise me in the least.
