President Donald Trump's longtime lawyer Michael Cohen will soon end a joint defense agreement with the president, ABC News reported Monday.

The former national security adviser Michael Flynn did the same just days before he reached an agreement with the special counsel Robert Mueller.

A former federal prosecutor told Business Insider the move "makes complete sense in the world where Michael Cohen flips."

I see Cohen as nothing more than a mob lawyer (which of course means that Spanky is a mob boss). In a way this was expected (if indeed it comes to pass) because of the way Spanky threw Cohen under the bus. On the other hand mob lawyers NEVER rat out their boss because of the horrible things that happen to those who do.

Repubs see the writing on the wall - if they ally themselves with Don, they will get dragged down with him, or risk investigation by Mueller. Don is toxic and they know it. With all of the wing nuts Don is putting into power, they do not want their "brand" tarnished by Don. They won't risk defending a tyrant and a traitor. What I foresee is the GOP abandoning Don to the wolves, as the dominoes fall. And Cohen is the second one to fall.

Even if Don thinks he can pardon Cohen, Cohen knows that even with a pardon, his goose is cooked. Even if NY does not investigate him. Cohen knows that he will be persona non grata if Don pardons him, so if he wants to make a living and care for his family as he says he does, he had better try to find a way to make himself a hero, and the only way to do that is to flip.
