Not really comparable but empathetic
So our middle schooler is flying today. She's flown before but this time she's by herself. Gate to gate pick up with us and my brother in law at the destination.
Last night we went out to dinner. My wife met us at the Mexican restaurant. She was spitting fire about the whole splitting up families disaster and the stalling by the Clustertrump. We had a discussion about it as a family including how things are usually handled and some history. We got to the part from 2 years ago when the unaccompanied kids started showing up in waves.
I said, "I really can't imagine having to send her (our daughter) off into the wilderness like that"
My wife looked up and said, "I'm having a hard time with what's happening tomorrow"
She'll be at the grandparents for 2 weeks. Like I said this should be no real problem and we have very confidence in her, she's a smart kid (especially when you consider the gene pool she crawled out of) and she is mature enough to do this.....but.....this is our doing and not from a desperate situation or having our child literally ripped from us.
I can empathize but I can't really comprehend fully what these families are going through. It's a waking nightmare.
