Mistakes in printing ballots for Milwaukee County voters in next Tuesday's presidential primary election forced a hurry-up reprinting job that started over the weekend, County Election Commission Administrator Lisa Weiner said Monday.
Although the reprinted ballots should be ready in plenty of time for election day, the off-kilter ballots were sent out to those who requested absentee ballots, Weiner said.
That will force municipal election officials to hand count or reconstruct all the absentee ballots, rather than process them through machines as usual, Weiner said. That might result in delays in completing the count on election day, she said.
The first batch of ballots that were printed for the presidential primary April 3 had a layout that wasn't compatible with the programming used to count them, she said. The ballots also weren't cut to the precise dimensions required for the machines that count them.http://www.jsonline.com/news/milwaukee/milwaukee-county-primary-ballots-reprinted-after-mistakes-discovered-v14odh3-144316735.html
