Health care freedom means all of us are on our own

I cannot divine whether U.S. Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy will cast the decisive fifth vote to overturn the individual mandate in the health care law. I can’t say how Justice Antonin Scalia would prefer his broccoli — Steamed? Stir fried? Raw? — should the government compel us all to eat it, as Scalia proposed during this week’s oral argument.

All I know is that my concept of freedom seems to be different from the way conservatives define freedom these days.

My idea of freedom is knowing that I could afford a health insurance policy if I happen to lose my job and that I won’t be denied coverage because I am a woman of a certain age and, oh yeah, I recently had sun damage spots removed from my hands.

Freedom is knowing your family doesn’t stand to go bankrupt if your child comes down with a serious health problem. It’s knowing the insurer can’t refuse to pay for that child’s treatment. It’s not having to worry about running up against artificially imposed “lifetime limits” on treatment of a chronic disease.

Hell, they've managed to hand what once was a democracy over to the corporate interest. I expect nothing less from a SCOTUS that was appointed by a gov't who has neglected the will of the people and who serve their campaign funders.
Where corporatocracy can bring us the likes of ALEC.

Until we reform campaign finance, we will continue to have this incredibly blatant oligarch.
Expect nothing less from the hijacking of the USA. Expect to see this as a more and more openly displayed takeover.

..Americans want Choice!"

Yea right...the wealthy have "Choice"... the middle class has whatever the insurance companies tell them they have and the poor
have the "Choice" of dying soon or dying today.
