"Democrats Need to get More Ruthless" is an OpEd in the NYT today. I URGE you to read it...

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/09/08/opinion/democrats-2020-trump.html

NOTE in particular what registered voters OPPOSE by large margins and they include

*Decriminalize border crossings

*Slavery reparations

*Replace private insurance

*repeal Obamacare

IMO, these are the areas where we have some real choices in how we talk about the issues we as Democrats care about and want to talk about forcefully.

I think the first one is something we can talk about if we reference how successful Barack Obama was with his policy (and I realize that not all of you agree with).

How do we phrase slavery reparations? Personally, I think we should look to religious traditions here, but I am not religious so I am at a disadvantage.

On private insurance, we have to find a way (and it's) a hard way to get some resolution of this quandary. I truly have no idea.

I don't think we should advocate repealing Obamacare. Whatever happened to "mend it, don't end it&quot ?

Well, what do you think?

vehemently DON'T. It doesn't take much to realize which ones they are. Though it seems an intense cop-out and/or injustice to defer elevating some of these issues to the top priorities, the fact is that we have ONE top priority and ONE only. Defeat Trump and his ilk and begin the intensely critical slog process of repairing the damage. Then and only then can we address some of the most controversial issues.

Frankly, IMO, if the democrats do not move forward on impeachment, I think the democratic party will lose in 2020. I really do. It will be the hallmark of tRump's campaign message, "see, the democrats found nothing wrong with me, and neither did Mueller."

We know impeachment will fail, but we can't stand by and do nothing. History must record we at least tried.

but messaging can be/should be improved considerably. Get creative, use technology and media much more efficiently and stay on point. Hire the best and most creative minds and get to work.

Bury the rethuglican party. I don't give a crap when people say "oh the country works better as a whole with two strong parties". Fuck that. If we run and elect the right people (I'm a guy but preferably more women), the country and the planet will be a better place for all.

rethuglicans would have no problem obliterating the Democratic party if they could. We should be just as ruthless but smarter. F them

It's aimed at the people in the Democratic Party to select a nominee. The party holds a spectrum of viewpoints, from conservative incrementalists to revolutionaries. There is room for all of us.

For the general election, there will be an outpouring of emotion and creativity, all in the service of ousting Trump and the GOP enablers. I don't know what it will look like, but it will happen. There was no way we could have predicted during the primary the movement that formed around President Obama in the general.

All this story does is pretend. They pretend Obamacare can be fixed. Whether it is trying to fix it or Medicare for all the Healthcare mafia will spend a billion to convince us ANYTHING—ANYTHING other than allow them to make billions is socialism and we’ll still be pissing in the wind a decade from now. You have taken the extreme on border crossings and once again pretended that’s what will be proposed. Your pretending will be the Russian/Trump talking point and YOU have done the dirty work for them. NO ONES LIFE should have to be based on whether some rich MF can make money off your death by denial—quit pretending life is a liberal death for the party.
