Trump's reelection looks more like a long shot than a slam dunk

Although many financial analysts and political forecasters contend that President Donald Trump is likely to be reelected in November because incumbents typically win reelection when the economy is strong, Trump is not a typical incumbent. These are not typical times.

At the outset, Trump will be the only impeached president to have run for reelection. Given that nearly 47 percent of the public believes he should be removed by the Senate, he seems to be starting his campaign from an unusually weak position. By way of comparison, it is helpful to recall that at the outset of President Bill Clinton’s impeachment trial in the Senate, only about one-third of Americans wanted Clinton removed from office.

And while the Republican majority in the Senate may reject removing Trump from office, they cannot remove the still-metastasizing scandal that surrounds his actions with regard to Ukraine. The Senate can ignore, but it cannot remove, the damning facts and testimony from the public record, which show that Trump asked a foreign leader to investigate a potential 2020 rival and illegally withheld military assistance in an effort to gain leverage.

Trump asked a foreign leader to investigate a potential 2020 rival and illegally withheld military assistance in an effort to gain leverage.

That's not accurate. Here's the proper representation:

Trump asked a foreign leader to announce an investigation of potential 2020 rival and illegally withheld military assistance in an effort to gain leverage.

I consider that a significant detail because it shows that trump didn't care about any real investigation. In fact, it's probably the last thing he wanted if it were to come up with nothing, especially before the election. No, all trump wanted was the announcement (on a pre-scheduled CNN interview with Zelensky) so he could use that TV appearance in campaign ads and gin up The Bund with "lock him up."

Not when Mueller, Wray, Coats and Comey all told us UNDER OATH that the election is rigged "as we sit here" and when Mitch refuses to bring legislation on election security to the floor.

the main reason she lost! How many people just stayed home telling themselves "Awe, she's going to win anyway. They don't need me."

Think back to then. Even DT was shocked that he won!

With Russia Repug voter suppression and actual Russia vote hacking, the repugs aren't worried - they plan to steal the election so don't care about laws, the people or their country. Take their treachery for granted at our peril, they intend to destroy us for their own profit and power and will do anything in the world to achieve that ends. They will even let a traitor stay in office, long as his benefactor send them boatloads of $$.

because the "middle" doesn't really see or feel much change in the economy from Obama's second term to Trump's first term. Not much difference to feel. They also see the corruption.

The Democrats have been on an unprecedented electoral roll since he's been in office. Got to go get those voters out and keep them from staying home and Trump's one and done.
