Former first lady Michelle Obama shared support for a 4-year-old girl who went viral this month after calling herself "ugly" and crying in an Instagram video.
Ariyonna, you are gorgeous. In a world that sometimes tries to say otherwise, I want to tell youand every other beautiful, intelligent, brave black girljust how precious you are, Obama shared Wednesday.
. . .
The video was initially shared by Atlanta-based hairstylist Shabria last week, "Good Morning America" reported. In the now-viral clip, Ariyonna says, "Im so ugly" while Shabria is combing through her hair.
Shabria tells the girl, Dont say that, before the 4-year-old begins to cry.
You have this beautiful chocolate skin, the stylist tells the girl, hugging her while she cries. You are just so gorgeous.
It broke my heart into pieces because she has the GREATEST energy and the most beautiful smile and heart ! She comes from a great home & loving mother . I just think when kids go to school they learn and pick up sooo much different things that they dont know the definition but they know the feeling ! the hair stylist wrote in the caption of the video, which has more than 486,000 views.
