With just hours before election results are released, many Wisconsin citizens say they never got the chance to cast their votes.
After a chaotic week culminating in a last-minute U.S. Supreme Court order, questions remain about the validity of the process for people who never received their absentee ballots.
Over the past several days, reporters interviewed 32 would-be voters who said they were forced to choose between going to the polls during a pandemic and not having their votes counted.
More than 500 people, responding to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel in an online form, said they requested their ballots in advance but did not receive them in time.
A picture emerged of voters disappointed, angry and confused about how the election played out in a state that has long prided itself on taking voting seriously.

(16,254 posts)and I don't know if they were also not counted, or what the outcome was. It sounds to me like Wisconsin still has a horrendous problem with their state government. I remember the battle they had going several years ago when part of the politicians left town and were hiding out to keep from having a quorum or some such. We've had so many political battles in this country since then, I can't remember what the whole situation was...I just remember a hot battle going on for a long time.
I have visited Door County many times and would like to return, but this turns me sour on Wisconsin. So sad.

(54,770 posts)last possible moment to try to halt the election. At that time, I think the SCourt made the right decision because one shouldn't delay an election at the last moment. Wisconsin allows absentee voting by mail with no excuse. People who didn't want to stand in line should have used that method.
In any event, I'm not sure from Democrats' standpoint it really makes a big difference. We did win a seat on Wisconsin's SCourt that we didn't expect (assuming GOPers aren't successful in invalidating the election).
