Voting by mail protects public health

Due to public health concerns amid coronavirus, more and more states red and blue alike are pushing the safety, security and ease of voting from home by using a mail-in ballot. It makes more sense now than ever.
More than two dozen states and the District of Columbia already allow some form of no-excuse mail-in ballot voting. The process has proved to be both effective and secure.
Pennsylvania became the latest addition to that list last year, when Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf and the Republican-controlled Legislature advanced a bipartisan package of sweeping election reforms. They should be commended for their work.
Today, the risk and reality of the virus has made Pennsylvanias new vote-by-mail option that much more vital to ensure a safe voting option for all. Mail-in ballots give eligible voters a secure way to vote from the comfort and safety of their homes.
