WASHINGTON/SEOUL (Reuters) - A special train possibly belonging to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un was spotted this week at a resort town in the country, according to satellite images reviewed by a Washington-based North Korea monitoring project, amid conflicting reports about Kims health and whereabouts.
The monitoring project, 38 North, said in its report on Saturday that the train was parked at the leadership station in Wonsan on April 21 and April 23. The station is reserved for the use of the Kim family, it said.
Though the group said it was probably Kim Jong Uns train, Reuters has not been able to confirm that independently, or whether he was in Wonsan.
The trains presence does not prove the whereabouts of the North Korean leader or indicate anything about his health but it does lend weight to reports that Kim is staying at an elite area on the countrys eastern coast, the report said.

(35,320 posts)Ownership isn't important if you control something.
If I could point to any house and any car and say, "I get to use those any way I want for as long as I want," why should I care who actually owns them? Or even better, say the government owns them--but I'm the government. When you control others' assets in the name of the people, it's an incredible power trip. And power trips require ever bigger rushes.
The Soviet leadership ... Truly amazing. None of that shoddy Soviet-made stuff. At least Czech/GDR if not Western-made goods. When the USSR was falling to pieces in the late '80s, the three tiers of stores didn't all fare the same. The dollar stores were open and well stocked. The party stores (as in "political party" were well-stocked. The hoi polloi stores weren't. The elites knew things were bad when the party stores didn't always stock steaks, roasts, and other good stuff. The hoi polloi stores knew things were bad when the weekly sausage allocation was short and there wasn't always enough lard.
Yeah, they had different stores. If you were an important worker and in the Party you'd have a different network of stores you could shop at for food and other stuff. Took years to set that up. Maduro at least just makes sure that his generals are well ensconced in civilian sinecures and that government workers and the military, at least--the really important part of society--get paid and even get food rations.
Same kind of "who needs stuff when you have power?" crap in the PRC. Hitler. Mussolini. And DPRK.
