Trump went beyond hatred, appealing explicitly to violence. He dismissed immigrants with criminal records as “animals” and praised Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents who “start swinging” at them. He extended this argument to Americans involved in the Floyd protests. Journalists “call them protesters,” he sneered, but they were really “thugs.” He encouraged his followers to take matters into their own hands. “When you see those lunatics all over the streets, it’s damn nice to have [fire]arms,” he declared. “Damn nice.”

1. I don't think most republicans are as stupid or violent as he thinks

He’s appealing to the tiniest, fringiest, cringiest part of his base.

He’s got to be turning off normal people.

2. He is trying his best to set the stage for a civil war.

He has tried getting people to use "2nd amendment solutions" many times, including during B:M marches near the WH & notice that hardly any of his people bit. He tried again in Tulsa to gin up violence, but everyone went home and no one used guns on others as he'd so love to see. He's doing this mail in BS now and will continue until the election when he hopes to have the militias come out with guns and incite violence so he can declare a national emergency, martial law and stop the election. Hopefully, his folks will yawn and refuse, but he wants this badly and so do the Russian Repugs and will continue inciting the MAGATS every way he can.
