German Flyers: 'There's No COVID Problem, There's A Jewish Problem.' - Blocking Fascists In Europe -

- Translation: Have we really only a Corona problem? Or do we not have above all a Jewish problem?
Daily Kos, Feb. 14, 2021.
Fliers were found in a tram in Germany that says COVID-19 is a Jewish plot. Not up on your German? The black-and-white flyer reads: Do we really have a Corona problem? Or do we have a Jewish problem? with a Star of David in the background next to the names of three prominent German politicians Chancellor Angela Merkel, Health Minister Jens Spahn, Minister of Foreign Affairs Heiko Maas and virologist Christian Drosten. There is one main problem none of the listed politicians are Jewish. "The more Jews in politics and media, the worse things are! it reads. It just goes to show you that the idiots who support hate of a minority group are not very bright, no matter where they are.
Unfortunately this is not an isolated incident.
At high-profile demonstrations against coronavirus measures, figures such as the Hungarian-born financier George Soros have been blamed for starting the pandemic with the help of the German government in order to gain power and influence. Of course ties are being made to the Holocaust. Separately, the Robert Koch Institute, the main public health advisory body to the German government, has reported receiving hundreds of emails threatening its scientists and slandering individuals. Several of the emails have stated What a shame for those of you who are accessories of this phoney government that there are no more gas chambers a reference to the method of killing used at Auschwitz.
Schuster said of particular concern to him were the frequent comparisons being made between the measures taken to dampen the spread of the pandemic and the treatment of Jewish people under the Nazis. Anti-vaxxer demonstrators at so-called hygiene demonstrations have often worn yellow stars similar to those Jews were forced to wear during the Third Reich, but bearing the word ungeimpft (unvaccinated) instead of Jude (Jew). Their wearers have said when a vaccination against coronavirus becomes available they will refuse to be inoculated, seeing themselves as victims of a dictatorship.
Anti-minority backlash .check...anti-vaxxer sentiment...check...anti-science .check.
Are we sure tRump did not just relocate to Germany? ~

.. But the banishing of the far right back to the fringes of American society is going to require a different set of strategies. And here, the United States could learn a few lessons from other countries.
- Quarantining Politicians & Parties: Although several European countries ban Nazi or neo-Nazi parties, a more effective tactic to reduce the political influence of extremist parties that fall just short of fascist has been to quarantine them. In Belgium the major parties have an informal agreement not to partner with Vlaams Belang, a far-right Flemish nationalist party. This agreement became increasingly difficult when VB received the second most votes in the last parliamentary election in 2019. Austria abided by a similar cordon sanitaire until 2000, when the conservative Peoples Party invited the far-right Freedom Party into government. The European Parliament has nevertheless borrowed the cordon sanitaire strategy to prevent members of the far-right Identity and Democracy bloc from holding any key posts such as the presidency of committees.
In Germany, the major parties have similarly avoided any coalition arrangements with the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD). But the German government, presided over by the conservative Christian Democrats, has deployed another interesting tactic against the AfD. Last spring, the countrys domestic intelligence agency declared one wing of the AfD extremist and placed its leaders under surveillance.. In Greece, the neo-Nazi Golden Dawn grew to become the 3rd largest party. The government successfully pursued a legal strategy to criminalize the organization, charging it with murder, racketeering, illegal possession of firearms, and attacks on migrants. 37 members of the party, including 17 MPs, were convicted of crimes and imprisoned. By 2019, the party couldnt get enough votes to have even one representative in parliament. If Trump ends up creating a new political party, a public pressure campaign could be mounted on the Dems and GOP to follow a strict policy of no talks, no committee assignments, and no joint actions with any entity that Trump touches.
.. The U.S. could learn from the example of Germany where the countrys special forces, Kommando Spezialkräfte (KSK), had become a veritable haven of far-right sympathizers. The working group investigating the KSK discovered soldiers who expounded unconstitutional views, a toxic leadership culture among superiors, and the unexplained disappearance of 62 kilograms of explosives and large quantities of ordnance from KSK depots. As a result, the German government disbanded one entire company of the KSK and reorganized the remaining units. It has also tightened its screening process. In the U.S., only thanks to the Black Lives Matter movement and other efforts to bring accountability to policing did the FBI begin collecting data in 2018 on the use of force in law enforcement. The next step is to purge police ranks of racist extremists, jurisdiction by jurisdiction.
- Hate Speech & Digital Controls: Because of the 1A protections, the U.S. does not have any hate speech laws. However, such provisions can be found in the private sector, such as universities.. Other countries have sought to penalize hate speech in a number of different ways. Germany has outlawed incitement to hate or Volksverhetzung, which applies to verbal attacks on national, racial, religious, or ethnic groups but also, according to a 2020 ruling, the denigration of women.. Since the 1970s, New Zealand has had a law on the books criminalizing the incitement of racial disharmony, and the government has been considering additional measures following the Christchurch killings in 2019. Dealing with hate speech became even more urgent when the far right discovered how to use social media to recruit, organize, and inject its messages into the conservative mainstream. In the U.S., the home of the largest social media platforms, there has been no move to legislate against extremist content on-line as long as it isnt criminal (like libel, threats to kill, or child pornography).
Rather, in typically American fashion, policing has been left to the private sector, which determines who to deplatform and what posts to take down...
