When the tools of government have been weaponized against the will of the people, it is the people's duty to throw off the form of government and start over with a modified and better form.

This time, I want a new Declaration of Independence that incorporates the UN human rights declaration as a foundation.
I want equal human rights that acknowledges that love is love, people have agency over their bodies, women are no longer bound to a male dominated hierarchy, and discrimination in all forms is illegal and antithetical to a free and open society. People are free in the conduct of their own affairs, but are also members of a society that has the right to require safety measures and control access to public spaces when necessary by disaster or disease.
I want a revised Supreme Court of non-lifetime appointees - and I want them drawn from a pool of justices for each term. 15 named justices for 10 year terms - to start off, the original 15 will be named as follows: 5 from the executive branch, 5 from the legislative branch and 10 nominated from the judiciary - but elected by the people; these justices would be eligible for one re-election, with a second term permissible only by national re-election from the people. After the initial court is set, future openings will be filled as follows: appointed by the sitting president to a first term, retained by the people for a second (if elected) and then retired.
If judges can be elected at the state and local levels, the SCOTUS must follow the will of the people or it ceases to be a body of jurisprudence and becomes a hive of political hacks (as it is today).
I want a revised Senate with no filibuster save one - the talking, standing flavor. I also want senators limited to 4 consecutive terms in office - if you have not achieved in 24 years what you sought the office for, then you suck at legislating and need to step aside anyway. The Senate is meant to be a deliberative body, not a club that holds up debate (or outright prevents it at all) via secret means. Stand and deliver or sit the fuck back down and vote, period.
I want revised House terms as well - 2 year terms have resulted in non-stop campaigns and no actual legislating if a moron like Taylor-Greene can gain more attention for doing literally NOTHING than she could as a freshman legislator, we have a structural problem. Representatives must serve the people, not their party and definitely not serve as nightly TV fodder and press honey-pots. The only way to do this is to increase the term of a Representative from 2 to 4 years.
Needless to say, none of this can happen under the existing Constitution, but once that government was broken (take your pick - in '74?, in '80?, in '01?, in '16?, in '20?), the die was cast and the out come is inevitable. How long can a country exist when 35-40% of the population refuses to allow governing unless only on their terms? How long can a nation endure 1/2 sane and 1/2 crazed? How long can the oppressed see their majority voice denied the just desserts of their election wins?
We are beating a dead government. We need a new one and unfortunately, the price to get there is apparently too high to pay or to contemplate.
Our system no longer serves to implement the will of the majority of the people. It now is on its death bed. Whether that passing is violent and brutal - anyone ever had to watch an attempted resuscitation of a full-code patient? It is a violent and ugly thing... - or that passing is peaceful and poignant - more like an assisted suicide or dying in one's sleep...THAT choice is the one we will face soon. The only question is how soon is now?
