Matthew McConaughey Vaccine Remarks Leave Medical Experts 'Extremely Disappointed'

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/matthew-mcconaughey-vaccine-remarks-leave-medical-experts-extremely-disappointed/ar-AAQxm2S

The Texan movie star revealed this week that he is against mandating the coronavirus jab for children in remarks that have been met with criticism.

Although the Interstellar star, 52, confirmed he has gotten the vaccine, he said he is against giving it to his kids.

"I couldn't mandate having to vaccinate the younger kids. I still want to find out more information," McConaughey said at the New York Times DealBook summit on November 9.

His remarks came days after the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention approved the Pfizer Inc and BioNTech SE Covid-19 vaccines for use on children aged 5 to 11.

McConaughy has three children, aged 13, 11 and 8. Speaking to writer Andrew Ross Sorkin, he urged the importance of "personal choice" in this matter.

"I'm vaccinated," he said. "My wife's vaccinated. I didn't do it because someone told me I had to— chose to do it."

"Do I think that there's any kind of scam or conspiracy theory? Hell no. We all got to get off that narrative. There's not a conspiracy theory on the vaccines," he said.

McConaughey clarified that does not intend to have his kids vaccinated against the virus "right now."

"Right now, I'm not vaccinating mine, I'll tell you that," he said.

In case there was ANY doubt as to his political leanings.

Which is why he won't run right now in TX. Perhaps if there was a Democratic Governor, but we all know that's Never going to happen.

not nearly crazy or nasty enough to win and if he runs as a Dem I don't think the Black or Progressives will vote for him.

To me he is just getting publicity. If you are so afraid to declare your party then what kind of leader could you possibly be - I say that with some reservation because "W" won as did Rick Perry so the bar is very very low for the rural and shitkicker community in Texas.

This is utter bullshit:

""I couldn't mandate having to vaccinate the younger kids. I still want to find out more information,""

McConaughy isn't smarter than the scientists and MD-PhDs and Statisticians who run clinical trials for Pfizer, nor is he smarter than the scientists at the FDA. No one is clamoring to know more about the Mumps vaccine, or the HPV vaccine. He doesn't understand clinical trials, or how Investigative New Drugs (INDs) become New Drug Applications (NDAs), or anything about how they are tested and approved. He's virtue signaling to the independents who are embarrassed to be called MAGAts. Let him run. He'll lose in a primary to that Abbott asshat, and then to Beto.

a bit dense...and not a very talented actor (always playing Matthew McConaughy -- no matter the role).
Doesn't speak well for other UT alumni.
(Disclaimer: I work for the UT system, but matriculated from another university in Texas)

When I think about what I passed up, I would have either become an engineer or a junkie. I'm glad that I ended up in Georgetown at a small university, but still close enough to Austin to enjoy the amenities.

McConaughey doesn't have what it takes to be governor and we can't afford to provide him OTJ training. The GOP field of candidates for governor includes the incumbent and challengers already so he would have to run as a Democrat to have the backing of a major party. Meanwhile, in the Democratic Party everyone is waiting to see what Beto decides. Running as an independent isn't plausible since he would have to build the campaign structure from scratch including voter lists and email information.

If McConaughey hadn't become an actor, then I wonder what else he would have done?

Well after this statement, he really shouldn't try to claim to be a Democratic contender if he makes a run for Governor. He doesn't appear to be entirely sadistic and racist, which would disqualify him to run as a Republican. If he ran for Governor under a third party, would that maybe split the uneducated vote between him and Republicans?
I know that things here in Texas seem like the Republicans are increasingly and aggressively trying to force us to go back in time - when only white, wealthy men dictated the laws. That's true, but it also IMO seems like an indicator that they have to "ramp it up" before they lose power. Texas has slowly (very slowly) been growing Democratic support. Maybe throwing in a wishy-washy entertainer could confuse some Repubs and help our numbers.

Maybe.
