The Republicans go punk ass and try to govern by threat

When House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) took to the floor during the debate on whether to censure Rep. Paul A. Gosar (R-Ariz.) for a video depicting him killing Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, McCarthy continued the GOP’s practice of not really defending what Gosar did.

What McCarthy did focus on, though, was how much Democrats might rue the day. He cited the supposed precedent set by the ultimately successful effort not just to make Gosar the first House member since 2010 to be censured, but also to strip Gosar of his committee assignments.

McCarthy said the vote would mean members in influential positions would “need the permission of a majority to keep those positions in the future” — even as no Democrats have targeted their colleagues with similarly (even metaphorical) violent imagery.

McCarthy expanded on that point by concluding his remarks thusly: “A new standard will continue to be applied in the future.”

That unwashed alcoholic Steve Bannon said pretty much the same thing the other day. Must be the latest GOP talking point.

to rule, not govern. Doesn't matter what the Democrats do, if the Republicans take over, as in seize power, there will be no end of phony investigations, hearings and criminal referrals. The GQP is uninterested in legislating except tax cuts for the rich. Oh, and, democracy? Poof, gone. How did it happen? Slowly, then very quickly.

but environmental deregulation, drilling and mining on every scrap of federal land available, deregulation of the banking and financial industries, in short - handing over everything but the kitchen sink to their corporate partners. For a cut of the profits, of course. 💰

Republicans want to get rich(er) cashing in on the people's property. It doesn't belong to them, but they'd damned well treat everything like it was all republican property. And the mindless minions who support their fascist overlords keep thinking its somehow better for them if this happens.

and revenge, a feature grown from their politics of personal assassination from the Clinton years.

It's been part of their ongoing attempt to politically criminalize Democratic leadership into being the "lock her up" opponents.

They now will find the slightest imperfection and pretext for ruthlessly criminalizing of our side's political work. Criminalizing ethical people is political gaslighting and alt-reality creation. They picked up pointers on how to do that with Putin and Ukraine.

They have now blown up their 11 hours of Benghazi treatment into the Hunter Biden method of minority party rule:
-- set up a pretext to "investigate" oppomemts while doing nothing to govern,
-- fabricate evidence, as they fabricated election "fraud,"
-- criminalize Democrats
-- by stealth at state levels, only allow Republican voter registration,
-- Permanently hand over Americans' tax money to their corporate owners, and
-- promote culture wars through broad media tabloid drama to
-- to distract from their kleptocracy rule;
-- to distract from the hollowing out & 'outsourcing' American public institutions and social services.

By now, corporations should know that this politics is no way to make a stable, profitable nation, and donate accordingly. That if they don't, mafia rule and kleptocracy will kill their own, eventually.
