Mass Psychosis - Too many Americans are losing their mind.
Instead, I want to talk about the fact that a fair number of people in the United States have lost their damn mind. And I dont mean someone walking the streets wearing a sandwich board warning you that THE END IS NEAR. I mean an entire assortment of our fellow citizens, ranging from elected officials to the neighbor who seems perfectly nice and keeps his lawn tidy but who also believes in things that are full-goose-bozo crazy.
Some of these folks are easy to spot, from Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene to retired Lieutenant General Mike Jack D. Ripper Flynn to the Kraken Queen herself, Sidney Powell. These are people whose break with reality has been ongoing and public for months, even years.
I do not mean that these are people whose politics are different from mine. I mean that these are people who took off from Spaceport Earth and then ripped up their return visa. Its bad enough to support a coup against the U.S. government. Its even worse to do it because you believe (as Powell did) that the CIA director is being held in secret custody in Germany or because you think (as Flynn did) that so many ballots were falsified that the military should impound them.

(15,946 posts)Yes Im aware that will never happen. Its clear its a huge problem and definitely not only Facebook. Twitter is a cesspool too. We do not need to know every minute of every person life including politicians. When we as a society start talking clothes on politicians or ties or whatever. Weve gone too far.

(2,829 posts)the only way out of this is to introduce prozac into the water supply of all Americans... even those who don't need it, just to ensure it gets to those who do need it. I'd be willing to get a dose or two of it in order to ensure that my next door neighbor with a gun and horrible anger management issues against liberals gets his.
I'd never had tipped my hat towards this thought before a 1/6, but since then I see no other option other than an outright civil war, and I absolutely do not want that. I also don't want to lose democracy to a dictatorship of Trump or Trump-inspired Cawthorn or Gosar or any number or Republican rulers where the least of us are sent out on our metaphorical icebergs to die.
I can see them give with one hand, for example... medicare4all.. and then make the worst nightmares for all come true, i.e., withhold medications to all but the healthiest. They be the death squad they always projected upon us. And so much more; they've projected so much.
If prozac or another such drug could mellow them out or put their heads back on straight without doing long term damage, I'd say go for it. It may be our only bloodless way out. Just thinking outside the box...

There's been a lot of rather wishful talk around here about civil war, which confuses me. Surely we're the wrong side for that? Aren't WE the Union, our role to keep the union from breaking apart, stopping civil war?
Biden would be Lincoln in my picture.
Seems to me it's the OTHER side that might want civil war, but surely only the mass psychotics at that? After all, how would they hold a state (and stay alive) if they were only 53% of its population, Democrats controlled the biggest city and county governments, critical amounts of water, power, food, etc, etc, came from out of state? Seems like not an unusual scenario. (Hey, let's throw in adjacent states grabbing resources and breaking off transportation routes preemptively as things started coming apart. Why not?)
RW leaders want and need the mostly peaceful coup d'etat they're busy creating right now.
But if Democrats launching a preemptive civil war against our federal government could stop a RW coup, I'd love to hear about it. There must be a hundred unconsidered things that could come into play.
