The mans wife and daughter were in West Shore hospital, and they werent doing well. He went to the chapel and asked the Rev. Nathaniel Gadsden, to pray, hard
The mans story is similar to that of thousands of people in Pennsylvania and throughout the nation. Like politics, COVID-19 has divided families, with some doing all they can to protect their loved ones; while others focus on protecting their personal freedom.
The man at the West Shore Hospital was on the opposite side of the debate with his wife. He had decided to get vaccinated. His wife rejected it
The young woman ended up siding with her mother, and they both wound up facing death at the West Shore Hospital.
As a hospital chaplain who trains others in this front-line work, Rev. Gadsden knows his role
Every day, we see the stories, the true stories of this pandemic, Rev. Gadsden said. He shakes his head at the debaters; the people who dont believe COVID-19 kills, until they show up in the emergency room or the family asking the chaplain to pray. Like the mans wife, many express regret, wishing they had only listened to the doctors.
Gadsdens Pandemic Diary documents the tragedies unfolding each day in our hospitals. It serves as both a testament to our times and as a warning for those who will listen, before they need to call in the chaplain to pray.
