John Nichols: A 'hugely scary' money power win

http://host.madison.com/ct/news/opinion/column/john_nichols/john-nichols-a-hugely-scary-money-power-win/article_368b0c7e-b19c-11e1-8fee-0019bb2963f4.html

Gov. Scott Walker says that, with his victory in Tuesday's recall election, he will "tell Wisconsin, tell our country, and we tell people all across the globe that voters really do want leaders who stand up and make the tough decisions."

The governor's definition of "tough" is, of course, his own.

He has a right to it. But that does not mean the rest of us must defer to the fantasy.

The work teachers do to educate our children, now that's tough. The work nursing aides do to care for the elderly is tough. Getting up at 3 a.m. to plow a county road is tough. Running into a burning building to put out a fire is tough.

Attacking teachers, nursing aides, snowplow drivers and firefighters — and the unions that represent them — is not tough. It's just wrong.

I have had jobs where fraud was a business model, the hardest job management had was trying to make sure they didn't get caught.

Putting people like Scott Walker in positions of power is like using rotten wood to frame a house.

unions did not take a hit because the majority of the rank and file vote for the repubs. They were spared the loss of collective bargaining

If they alienate the police and fire departments all hell will break out with no one to stand between them and it.

even the dems and union bosses won't admit/or discuss, that the majority of police and firefighter union members and their households are voting republican ie against their own best interest. connect the dots. most republicans are white male/most police and firefighters are white male.

The bravado of a man who had to outspend his opponent 16 to 1 in order not to be the third governor recalled in American history. If he in fact won. A 4 point shift in the exit poles? I smell a rat.
How is it that historical accurate exit poles suddenly became inaccurate in the 2000 presidential race? Why did all of the networks refuse to provide their poling numbers in 2000? When are we going to find a way to deal with this? It's getting late in the game and the a**holes are winning.
