The fact that climate "catastrophism" turns off voters does not mean that we don't face a looming climate catastrophe! If ostensible allies like "Liberal Patriot" Ruy Teixiera aren't able to see that, then call me a catastrophist but I don't see how we can possibly do what needs to be done.

If we fail to confront the climate emergency and doom our children and future generations to potentially catastrophic hardship and suffering that it is still largely within our power to prevent, it will not be because of the climate deniers and their cronies. All just battles are fought against entrenched opposition, and the climate battle is no different.

No, if we fail, it will be due to the insidious “optimism” of ostensible allies like “Liberal Patriot” Ruy Teixiera who offer false hope disguised as pragmatism that saps our motivation to fight and cuts the legs out from under those who understand the stakes and are trying to rally support for the cause of – in a very real, non-hysterical way – saving the world. If we succumb to the tempting counter-narrative he offers up in his recent article, “Climate Catastrophism Is A Loser,” we will have failed on both a practical and a moral level.

Joe Rogan circles and believers say the same thing - the climate "debate" (as if there is scientific proof that calls the dire predictions into actual doubt, not just 'head-on-the-sand' pouting) is couched as being a problem of marketing and not enough optimism. SMFH!!!

If anything, we have been too lax for too long and now that the scary stuff is happening in real time and FASTER than the gloomiest projections of just 5 years ago, now people want to say things in a measured voice to avoid upsetting people's fee-fees...man, fuck it already, Homo Sapiens is an evolutionary deadend and also the single greatest murdering species in the history of the known universe...when all the extinctions are added in, we will kill off more than microscopic disesases, comet impacts, volcanic eruption, tsunamis, and solar flares COMBINED.

So...in true human fashion..."we're #1!!!! we're #1!!! we're #1!!!"
