Why doesn't Ukraine attack the Russian convoy?
Ben Barry from the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) suggests the Ukrainians may well be safeguarding what resources they do have in readiness to counter-attack when the Russians get closer to Kyiv.

Makes sense to use set piece units and air power in major counter-offensive

(35,300 posts)3. Their air power is best used to pick off lone fighters and bombers.
Amassing them would create a target-rich environment and invite both AA fire and a bunch of Russian jets.
At the same time, I have to wonder why the convoy went from being compact and three abreast to spread out and mostly single file. Mud? Didn't want to be a target-rich environment itself? Maybe there were problems with fuel lines failing or tanks abandoned because of no gas (with or without punctured gas tank) or no drivers?
Don't know.
Can't know.

But I think Russia would figure out who did it.
