Despite Hannity's Best Efforts, Trump's Mouth Is Incapable of Forming the Words "Putin Is Evil"

Maybe next time the Fox News host should try a ventriloquist dummy.

As you’ve no doubt heard by now, Donald Trump has spent the last several weeks slavishly praising Vladimir Putin, despite the Russian president’s decision to wage an unprovoked, unjustified war in Ukraine. Aside from Trump’s namesake, who claims the ass-kissing is a tactical game of psychological warfare, most of the former president’s allies seem to understand how bad this looks—not just morally but politically, as 86% of Americans view Putin “very unfavorably,” according to a recent poll. So in an interview on Thursday night, Fox News host Sean Hannity went with a new tack: trying everything in his power to put the words “Putin is evil and I understand this” into Trump’s mouth.

“You see what is going on with Vladimir Putin,” Hannity started, slowly laying things out for Trump, like one would for a child. “He invaded a sovereign country. You see that a maternity hospital was hit yesterday. You see that entire neighborhoods have been leveled. We showed some images. There was a mass grave of about 70 people. We have seen dead bodies of men, women, and children in the streets of Ukraine. Your reaction to what you’re seeing?”

Trump responded by calling the situation “sad.” But crucially, he laid no blame on the head of his favorite dictator. Of the Russian president, all Trump had to say was “I know him well, and this was not something that was going to happen at all [on my watch].”

So Hannity tried again. “I’m going to get back to the issue of why Putin wouldn’t do it if you were president,” he said. “You came under some fire when you said that Vladimir Putin is very smart. I think I know you a little bit better than most people in the media, and I think you also recognize he’s evil, do you not?” Literally all Trump had to do here was say, “Yes,” or “Yes, I do,” or “Yes, he is.” But Trump, of course didn’t do that. Instead he answered the question indirectly, and when the P-word did come up, it was to say that all this invading and civilian killing was somehow out of character for him. “This doesn’t seem to be the same Putin that I was dealing with,” Trump said. “But I will tell you, he wouldn’t have changed if I were dealing with him, he wouldn’t have changed.”

He can't afford to criticize Pootie or it's curtains for trump, and possibly his family.

It's either trump owes so much money to Putin and the oligarchs or it's the rumored "pee tapes."

Are you recalling all of those times that you thought that everything Trump did was performance art for laughs and money? Did you ever think that you would play with Trump in this great game of "Being at the Levers of Power" only for profit/ratings?

So you want Trump to catch the hint and continue to play along? "Come on, Donnie! It's getting hip to dismiss Putin as evil. Can't you jump on the bandwagon for your own sake?"

Hmm... So maybe Trumpy-Boy wasn't performing for the audience Sean thought it was. Do you think so, Sean?
