How did this many deaths become normal? The U.S. is nearing 1 million recorded COVID-19 deaths with

At least 953,000 Americans have died from COVID, and the true toll is likely even higher because many deaths went uncounted. COVID is now the third leading cause of death in the U.S., after only heart disease and cancer, which are both catchall terms for many distinct diseases. The sheer scale of the tragedy strains the moral imagination.

Before they inconvenience someone important. 40% of the country think that those numbers are BS. A great of those deaths were because we had a goddamn fool in the White House when the disease was gaining a foothold. Votes matter.

He still would have fucked up, cuz he's a fuck up, but we'd be in a much better place if he hadn't made the whole thing a political issue. I still SMDH that he & Jared thought a virus would just stay in the blue states. How GD stupid do you have to be to think that?

TDFG established the mood for the nation--angry, hostile, fact-free, emotional, reactionary, rude, insulting, and dismissive of serious events. He demonized Dr. Fauci because he did not want to believe and did not understand how viral outbreaks work. He focused on the trivial and the minute to spew his message of hate and outrage.

He equated "freedom" with white privilege, and enabled the adult-toddlers among us to whine about public health safety measures because he didn't like how he looked in a mask.

Next wave of infections will break just after spring break weeks.

The tone was not only set by Trump, it stuck with the cult. Once Biden got into office & really got the vax program going, it didn't matter to the cult—they weren't going to get the vax cuz Trump wouldn't endorse it. And forget wearing masks. That would infringe on their freedumb.

Last June we were approaching a 7-day average of 10K cases a day for the entire nation. But Trump's tone stuck & the cult wouldn't get vaxxed or wear masks, & here we are back in the weeds again.

Even though Pfizer was not part of Operation Warp Speed, he could have secured a victory if he'd embraced the vaccines first administered in Dec. 2020, while he was pResident.

The Death Cult of personality was livid when a high ranking democrat expressed hesitation about taking a rushed vaccine under tRump's plan.

He turned the whole Coronavirus Task force into campaign events for camera time and empowered the high school educated general contractor and real estate agent set to reject facts and science. He tried to kill the messenger because he did not like the message, and did not know how to respond.

One anti-mask woman I play golf with once in a while spent the whole morning asking who was vaccinated, then insisting she wasn't going to live in fear. The masked and vaxxed folks, we weren't afraid, we adapted for safety and were free to go and do what we wanted. She was anxious and fearful *because* she knew she was unprotected.

I'm in Cawthorn's district, and we had the giant trucks, and hostile school board meetings over masking. They have pretty much disappeared, though.

Fun fact, I had Covid--the last two weeks of December 2020, right after they announced there was an effective vaccine. I got it from another teacher at Rugby Middle School, down the street from Wheels McFascist's house. The custodian, a good ol' boy, wore his mask under his chin, and the administration refused to address it because he had a brother in the district office and was untouchable.

The Anti-Science Magat crowd is also very bad at math: 2% of 133,000,000 people is 2.6 million people. Pandemics take 3-5 years to wash over the global population. Whole bunch of science deniers dead, their stories at sorryantivaxxer.com.

The Cult loved tdfg because he was crass, and rude, and boorish, and uneducated, and chauvanistic, and proud about it. He removed the stigma that shame should bring.

That they no longer govern for America as a whole.

Just for their hyper-partisan minority.

Trump was happy when people were dying in states that didn’t vote for him.

People would rather have someone else die than undergo the inconvenience of wearing a mask.
