I think about this a lot: in today's media environment, Nixon would survive Watergate unscathed.

@Sulliview
doesn't mention is that the RW built its media machine *in response to* Watergate, precisely to prevent accountability in the future.

Perspective | Why the press will never have another Watergate moment
Fifty years ago, the nation was gripped by media coverage of Nixon’s crimes — and there was no Fox News to tell it to look away.

was all about creating the media made mindset in advance.

That all was ignored by urban people. We liberals living/working in hate radio dominated areas have been sounding the alarm since the ‘80’s. OMG!!!!! I really don’t know if it there is any hope.

The mindset is so deeply entrenched now.

You old-timers, think back on the stunning naivete of the 1970's---back when we foolish liberals believed we would never, ever have to deal with a worse president than Richard Nixon, and that a free, principled press would be our salvation. Think of Nixon's final, shameful helicopter departure from the White House---and ask yourself if you believe trump will ever pay anything close to such a penalty for the things he's done. I believe trump gets away with minimal punishment.

have been angry ever since Watergate I believe. Think they vowed not to let that happen again, even if they have to cheat and lie to do so.
