SURPRISE: DONALD TRUMP LIED ABOUT HIS NASTY LITTLE TOILET-CLOGGING HABIT

Earlier this year, Donald Trump’s longtime obsession with toilets took a dark turn. We speak, of course, of the revelation from New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman’s forthcoming book, via Axios, that while Trump was in office, “the White House residence periodically discovered wads of printed paper clogging a toilet—and believed the president had flushed pieces of paper.” Though this could have simply been evidence that Trump wasn’t housebroken, or a good explanation for why he claimed it took 10 to 15 flushes to clear the bowl, the news that the former president apparently clogged West Wing toilets with wads of paper had extra significance, as it emerged just days after The Washington Post reported that not only had Trump absconded to Mar-a-Lago with numerous boxes of classified government materials, but that he regularly shredded presidential documents while in office. Some of which, apparently, were then transferred to the toilet bowl.

At the time, Trump insisted the story was “fake” and “made up by a reporter in order to get publicity for a mostly fictitious book.” Later he called Haberman a “maggot.” And then, like basically everything that has come out of his mouth in the last 72 years, evidence emerged that he was full of shit.

Yes, on Monday morning, the world woke up to photos of two toilets reportedly clogged by the last president, published by Axios. (They were obtained by Haberman, who turned them over to the outlet.) According to a source familiar with the matter, one of the photos is of a White House toilet, while the other “is from an overseas trip.” Haberman says her sources told her that Trump clogged White House toilets with government documents on “multiple” occasions and on at least two trips abroad. (Thus far, no foreign governments have come forward to reveal Trump abused their commodes while making a state visit, though perhaps they’re trying to figure out the most delicate way to disseminate the information.)

Responding to the photos, Trump spokesperson Taylor Budowich told Axios: “You have to be pretty desperate to sell books if pictures of paper in a toilet bowl is part of your promotional plan…. We know…there’s enough people willing to fabricate stories like this in order to impress the media class—a media class who is willing to run with anything, as long as it anti-Trump.” Of course, that pushback would be more believable if Trump’s distinctive handwriting wasn’t clearly visible on the papers in question, quite obviously scrawled in his writing device—a black Sharpie—of choice.

Not so far, anyway. A little piece of paper, conveniently facing right side up so it's legible, with a recognizable name. Sharpies dilute in water. And he didn't flush it before he left the bathroom. Someone was right there with a cell phone (or camera?) to take the photo.

I hope I'm wrong, but this reminds me of the pathetic means Faux/etc. resort to in order to hoodwink their followers.

It looks staged.

Like the faked AWOL thing for the lying criminal Bush, euchre took down Dan Rather. They tried to do the same thing to Rachel Maddow.

In this case, though, since Haberman sat on it for her book instead of publicizing it immediately, she may get the fallout she deserves.

I'm really sick of those "journalists" who saved damning things to line their own pockets

I think this is likely to be a Dan Rather style plant.

But, to be punctilious: Sharpies are notoriously waterproof. Got one? Try it.

...of your promotional plan."

I will counter with - You have to be pretty stupid to try to flush pieces of paper, large enough to be identifiable, down the toilet, resulting in repeated servicing of the White House plumbing system. That's not suspicious at all, no siree.

It would be interesting to compare water usage at the White House during Trump's time there with water usage during other administrations.
