Chris Matthews: NBC Reporter Asked Fetterman "Reasonable Questions" For A Guy Who Cannot Answer Without A Monitor

Former MSNBC host Chris Matthews praised NBC correspondent Dasha Burns for her interview of Pennsylvania Democratic U.S. Senate nominee John Fetterman. Matthews said Burns asked "reasonable questions of a guy who cannot answer the question because he has to look at the monitor."

"This thing about Dasha, her interview was wonderful," Matthews said. "She was soft, she was reasonable, and she asked reasonable questions of a guy who cannot answer the question because he has to look at the monitor."

"This is a great question. If the Republicans are smart, they'll say how is this guy going to debate for Pennsylvania on the Senate floor? Is he going to bring a monitor with him? They can be really rough. So far, they're hitting him on crime, and even my brother was saying, 'I'm not going to a Phillies game, it's too dangerous to go downtown,'" Matthews said.

"There's a lot of that talk in the suburbs," he said. "So they'll tie him to crime and the long-term prisoners that he has defended and they're going to tie him up with that. But still you have a problem with Oz being from somewhere else, from Jersey."

Comment: Keith Olbermann called Matthews out on this on his Countdown podcast Thursday. (It's in the B:block starting at 15:52) and I have to agree. What the hell was he thinking? There are other ways to comment besides the way he did.

1. The problem wasn't her interview. It was the stupid and inaccurate comments she made after

the interview. Matthews needs to pay attention and understand what the criticism was actually about.

7. She was being interviewed right before they played a clip from her Fetterman interview. She

made a comment about how she didn't think Fetterman was understanding her questions or something to that effect. Then the clip showed Fetterman answering her questions. He did great. Her comment was stupid and obviously not true. She blew it and should take back what she said. She is not ready for prime time. She was able to land a good interview and then blew her own credibility. I have a feeling because she is not a well known or highly regarded journalist (I'd never even heard of her before this) so she wanted a big scoop and to make waves. Instead she just showed that she is a wannabe.
