LTE: Don't support candidates who deny election results

When I hear a candidate say an election was stolen, especially despite all evidence to the contrary, it tells me that person feels they are the only person who should be elected, and that indicates they do not think the other candidate has any backing or legitimacy.

What kind of representation are you going to get from that candidate? Even if you have supported them, do you think they will consider your opinion if it differs from theirs in the future? If they don’t trust our elections, can you trust them in a position of responsibility over your life and happiness? How about your freedom?

We need our citizens to make the effort to peaceably support our elections in a way that respects each other. We need to make supporting our very own democratic republic a priority. We cannot decide individually that we know better than everyone else. We have to work together to support each other and our country. Otherwise we won’t have a country in which our opinion counts. After going through two election cycles where my ballot was either very late or didn’t arrive at all, that last thought terrifies me.

falsehoods, conspiracy theories and are unreliable when it comes to facts. So no, they don't get my vote.
