Hey Bill Maher, shut up!

I agree with the author. Been pretty tired of Maher excoriating the Dems for this, that, everything.

Robert Harrington from The Palmer Report

I can’t imagine any positive use for information about who Donald Trump is sleeping with, apart from the obvious and effective appetite suppressant such an image would make. But it briefly became an obsession with Bill Maher, when it featured on his latest “New Rule” shtick. He spent the whole eight minutes of the segment ruminating on arguably the world’s most disgusting subject.

It was also a particularly trivial and irrelevant subject for Maher in light of his “New Rule” segment from the previous week called “Democracy’s deathbed.” In that one he spent a full seven minutes essentially chastising Democrats for bothering to vote. Bill Maher was there to pronounce Democracy’s final epitaph and you were a fool if you couldn’t see the hand-wringing on the wall — as it were — courtesy of Mr. Maher.

But in lieu of an apology after his “prediction” went spectacularly wrong, Maher instead decided to speculate on Donald Trump’s sex life. Did he think planting sickening images in our heads would distract us from the colossal belly flop of his previous week’s prediction? If he did it didn’t work with me.

Rest of the column at the link. It's free, but the Palmer Report could use your support.

Clearly Maher was using HBO to talk to an audience of one! Trying to bait him into more publicity.

Just so tone-deaf for an election week episode, especially after the prior week.

wishy-washy personality made me quit listening to him a couple of years back. I did listen to his recent interview on some MSM show with him saying defeat for Democrats in this election was all but inevitable. Tell that to Governor Whitmer sucker. He also was crying defeat for democracy in this midterm. Go tell it to Lake...and again he was so wrong and out of touch. Can't stand his a** now!

when Ari Fleischer warned him to watch what he says...Maher built the rest of his career on that one shout-out..Maher is insulting, caustic, dated, and irrelevant...he is his own biggest fan and his guests are only present as witnesses to his brilliant banter..Bill is way past his sell-by date..it's time for Bill to shut up and go away

It's not a factual source of information. So as a former journalist, I'd say they don't deserve support.

And like the normally reliable news outlets who were factually wrong on the midterms, so was Maher. But I do believe his "epitaph" New Rules the prior week was born out of disappointment and a deep desire to see Democrats turn around the poll numbers on Election Day, rather than snark. Snark is just the schtick.

We attended one of the rehearsals for his HBO show years ago when we were in L.A. But he has changed. I still agree with some of what he says, but I've been finding myself wincing at him a lot more. It's not funny, Bill, to say you'll punch kids in the face for wearing face masks.

Please end his whining and libertarian voice against the Democratic Party. I'm sick of him.
I used to laugh and laugh at his shtick but during covid, he got tiresome. Stick a fork in him, he's done.

It was bloody hilarious, and it was also true.
Maher was pointing out how small minded media has become, and he was pointing out the obvious.
People who want to dis Maher, or say they won't, or have stopped, listening to him are just putting themselves in their own information silos.
Yes, he's an arrogant, entitled, out of touch playboy, but so what. Even the dull and ignorant have something to say. And sometimes, even a buffoon is hilarious and on point.
Maher is a provocateur, he's always been a provocateur, and always will be a provocateur. He's often wrong, sometimes right, and frequently hilarious.
Get over it!

I still believe he has cutting and sometimes witty insight on some issues but his thinking has become too petty and stale for my taste.

While the nation's house was/is figuratively on fire, he's seems more worried about "woke" and protecting corporate interests.
