'No one knew the end was now': Feinstein's last day in the Senate
By Noah Bierman and Doyle McManus,
Los Angeles Times
WASHINGTON Sen. Dianne Feinstein wasnt feeling well this week, so she skipped a Thursday morning Judiciary Committee meeting, as has become her custom since her health declined in recent months. But she had told Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer, D-N.Y., that she would be available if he needed her for an important vote.
He needed her.
Congress was locked in another stare-down with far-right lawmakers over keeping the government open and the Senate was hoping to extend a Saturday night deadline.
Just after noon, Feinstein walked onto the Senate floor in a purple suit with the help of her chief of staff, James Sauls. She raised her right hand as she told the clerk, Aye.

OP
It is going to take a while for me to not include "Feinstein" when asked who are my Senators.

I have neighbors, here in Kentucky, who nearly foam at the mouth if you just mention Feinstein. Their vitriol is a good indicator of her effectiveness.

Cannot be celebrated. They hate Madam Pelosi too. And they probably love the eminently useless Rand Paul.

their own Senators did. What has Mitch done for anyone?

Seniority on the judiciary committee and all that. Still, I just wish she hadn't run LAST time.

Very honorable.
