"Donald Trump is very confused"-- good overview of his mental lapses and weirdness

by Dana Milbank

In October, in a speech in Derry, N.H., he informed his audience that Viktor Orban, the strongman who rules Hungary, is “the leader of Turkey.”

In November, in a speech in Claremont, N.H., he advised the crowd that the current leader of the United States is “President Obama.” (He later claimed this mistake, which he made on several other occasions, was actually him being “sarcastic” — get it?)

Then, on Friday night, at a rally in Concord, N.H., Trump confused his Republican primary opponent, Nikki Haley, with former House speaker Nancy Pelosi. He claimed that Haley was “in charge of security” during the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol, that she refused all of his offers of help, and that she destroyed the evidence.

....

I went to Trump’s rally on Saturday night in Manchester, where he didn’t address the Haley-Pelosi mix-up but assured his supporters that he “took a cognitive test” and “I aced it.” He has previously boasted of his ability to identify an image of a “whale” on said assessment, but, as The Post’s Ashley Parker and Dan Diamond pointed out, there is no such marine mammal on any version of the test. (Maybe he was being “sarcastic” about the whale, too.)

But I listened carefully to Trump that night — no easy feat because he went on for 100 minutes — and noticed that, even though his text was fed to him through a teleprompter, he told many of the same stories over and over again, repeating some lines almost word for word in the same speech, with no apparent awareness that he had done so.

Same pattern of repeating the same stories, getting facts wrong, and getting a witless neighbor to insist that my father was so "with it". Not to mention the constant confusion he had. Stopped paying bills because his executors would do it (and he had no idea when that would be).

Like a Greek Tragedy.

transplant because of that. He drank some but not more than once a week or so.

I don't think liver disease is known to cause sores like he appeared to have on his hands. Were those just blood smears he wasn't aware of? Could be related.

My buddy ate almost nothing but fast food, frozen pizza and shit like that. Very little in the way of veggies or fruit ever.

Liver failure fits with a lot of what we are seeing from Trump.

Yesterday, the Post dismissed his mental lapses as flubs, I guess trying to make them seem innocuous and equal to Biden’s stutters and occasional gaffes. Trump has always been mentally unfit to be president, but this level of confusion is worse than early last year. Someone posted here yesterday about a blood test to screen for Alzheimer’s. Perhaps Trump, and Biden, should be required to take it. I suspect Biden would be fine but Trump would not.

... since I'm not a subscriber. Even the ones that get posted on DU I only get to read a few paragraphs.

As I understand it, Dana Milbank is a regular columnist, and that means he has some leeway in writing stuff that most regular beat reporters aren't allowed. Mr. Milbank expresses his own opinion based on his observance, and that's lucky for us.

Most newspapers and TV stations will not show us Chump's unedited speeches, and they also won't tell us that 98% are word salads that make no sense to normal people. When TV news and daily papers such (as WaPo) report on Chump's speeches, they edit it down for brevity and so it sounds somewhat intelligent. This was happening even when Chump was in the White House, and it's certainly happening even more now.

The news media don't want us to know how addled-brained Chump really is. Remember Ronald Reagan's 2nd term, when he was well into his twilight, Alzheimer years? Chump is worse than that - NOW! Why would any American - regardless of party - want someone that addled and out of it to be the leader of our country?

We already know what a terrible, horrible, awful job Chump will do because that's what he did the first time. He's telling and showing us that he'll be even worse if we're stupid enough to elect him again.

I hope there are some Repukes who still read the Washington Post, and they saw this. Maybe Dana Milbank did us a service by writing the truth in his column. I hope somebody's mind will be changed.
