Today's Tiedrich rant: Trump E. Coyote is off the cliff and in deep denial about how truly fucked he is

about 1:30pm yesterday my phone started blowing up with notifications from every news outlet. they all reported more or less the same story: Trump Appeals New York Civil Fraud Verdict.
Screenshot:
huh, where did Trump get the money? I said to myself, as I started tapping on the notifications, eager to find out because remember, Trump cant appeal without first ponying up 120% of the $465 million (and counting) hes on the hook for after losing the Big Trump Family Business Fraud Fuckery Trial.
but that initial rush of reporting made no mention of money because, in a mad dash to post a scoop, the press once again breathlessly reported only what Team Trump told them: that hed filed an appeal. end of story. thanks again, media!
Tiedrich's rant continues and it's great, but I'm only allowed to post 4 paragraphs. Please click on the link to read the rest of his rant on the daily blog.
Something that pundits haven't mentioned is that Chump was the CEO of the Chump Family Organizations, but it's not just his own wealth he's losing. It's the inherited wealth of all his siblings and their heirs. It's all going to be seized, or at least as much as Letitia James can grab to satisfy the court fines. Two brothers are dead and his older sister Marianne Trump Barry passed in November 2023. But there's still one younger sister living plus a passel of nieces and nephews. They're all going to be on the unemployment lines soon.

(5,714 posts)Tfg guy can appeal the ruling regardless of having a bond.
Only with the bond can he stop daily interest charges on the amount he owes.

(32,645 posts)The only thing Chump's lawyers did was place a "notice of appeal."
So Tiedrich is pointing out the difference, that the media calls it an "appeal," but it's really meaningless at this point.

(2,910 posts)Trump is a boorish sociopath who made his way first on Daddy's millions, then on the benefits from his invisible untangible "brand" - in other words, his self-made legend. Lots of coattail hangers were only too happy to boost The Invisible Empire so's to catch what bounced off him.
Tiedrich drilled through the breathless sycophancy (again, The Legend) of the plutocrat media's fluff job to address the question: where's the money to post the bond for an appeal? It turns out he didn't actually appeal, he just filed a notice that he intended to.
To ordinary people, and even to moderately rich people, half a billion seems like a lot of money. BUT! As of 2019, America's ruling class (the top 10% of families) held a whopping 120 trillion dollars of wealth. That's 120,000 billions. They could pay the bond 240,000 times over. And that was five years ago, before the massive wealth infusions of the pandemic, which mostly trickled up.
per the Congressional Budget Office..
If the bunker-building oligarchs like Zuckerberg and Putin see a benefit to having this clown in the White House, they'll slip a half-billion under the door. That'll be just couch change to them.
Remember, it was Zuckerberg and Cambridge Analytica who gave Trump the electoral college in 2016 via illegal transactions in Facebook user data. And Trump said Putin could do whatever the hell he wants.
