RFK Jr. shares why he stopped taking flu shots in 2005 (hint: his voice)
https://www.msn.com/en-us/health/other/rfk-jr-shares-why-he-stopped-taking-flu-shots-in-2005/ar-AA1Uncoa. . . [he] told USA TODAY he stopped taking flu shots in 2005 because of his concerns about side effects, including suspicions about what damaged his voice.
Kennedy, 71, said he got annual flu shots through the mid-1990s. But he said he gave them up for good in 2005 as he became more aware of possible side effects.
Kennedys speech often sounds strained and broken from a condition called spasmodic dysphonia, also called laryngeal dystonia. He said he couldnt prove a flu vaccine caused his condition, but that it was one potential reason.
He gave absolutely no reason or evidence to think it's a risk factor for his or anyone's voice condition.
Sort of like:
I'm totally fucked up
I had flu shots
Therefore flu shots made me totally fucked up
ETA I'm not saying a voice condition makes one fucked up; it's one of the least of his problems. That he's totally fucked up cognitively is not in doubt.

The world would have been much better place if you had died from overdose and become the poster boy of drugs are bad.

(28,480 posts)I last had flu in 1975, maybe '76. I seem to be permanently immune.
However, I would NEVER suggest anyone else not get the shot.

(12,692 posts)... and he decided the neurological disorder underlying his spasmodic dysphonia was caused by vaccines???
IDK, but I think I'd suspect damage from the abuse of alcohol, heroin, and other drugs while my brain was in a critical stage of development might have something to do with developing a neurological disorder years later. Or after that dead worm was found in my brain, I might suspect that could have done some damage when it was alive.
On Edit: Just saw the post pointing out that of his sisters has the same disorder.
