Don't Blame What's Happening in Minneapolis on Sanctuary Cities

It has only been a few days, but more than half of Americans have already seen video of Alex Pretti collapsing into a crumpled heap on a cold Minneapolis street, surrounded by the federal immigration agents who shot him.
What Americans deserve is a full and independent investigation into what happened something that, as Republican Senator Thom Tillis noted on X over the weekend, requires cooperation and transparency between federal, state, and local law enforcement.
Unfortunately, what we seem to be getting instead is an intragovernmental dispute, with the Trump administration largely refusing to cooperate with the Democrats who run state and local government in Minnesota.

Trump administration officials claim the locals refuse to coordinate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Border Patrol, but local politicians and law enforcement often say, recently, that the reverse is true that its federal immigration agents who are leaving them out.
