Justice or Nothing: I'm Done Voting for Cowardice

Julie Roginsky

I am done voting for Democrats who promise comfort when what this country needs is consequences.

I am done being told to “look forward” while the people who brutalized this country, looted it, and turned state power into a personal weapon walk around free, rich, and smug — raping the Constitution, collecting corporate tributes, and daring us to do something about it.

So let me be perfectly clear: I will not vote for any Democratic presidential candidate who refuses to announce, before the election, exactly whom they will appoint as Attorney General. The vetting can happen now — not just by a closed-door team of mandarins but by all of us. We’re not taking any chances anymore.

The last time Democrats tried the “healing” approach, it taught authoritarians the most dangerous lesson imaginable: You can do anything, as long as you win.

... rather than to wipe away the stain of Trumpism. I don't believe there will be a reckoning in this country after Trump is gone. I would surely like to see it happen but doubt it will.

When it comes to defeating the Trumpublican/Fascist threat, we must be very, very, very clear.

If we splinter, if we become divided against ourselves, THEY WIN.

There are Democrats who piss me off no end, but I will NEVER withhold my vote when it is a choice between a Democrat who appears to be deluded about the nature of the enemy we face and an ally of that enemy.

And until we have ranked choice/ instant runoff voting in general elections, I will not be voting for an independent, green, or other candidate who doesn't have a shot.

We can push to implement ranked choice/ instant runoff voting in our primaries. That's how to get people familiar with it and how to spread it to general elections. But until we have it in our general elections, the two party system will continue to dominate.

Herding Democrats is more challenging and more frustrating than herding cats, but never lose track of the fact that those who continue to affiliate with the Trumpublican party are the real enemy.
