Comer Thought Epstein Would Hurt Democrats. Instead, He Handed Democrats a Roadmap to Destroy Trump

If House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer’s recent crusade to drag Bill and Hillary Clinton in front of Congress over the Jeffrey Epstein files was supposed to be a masterstroke of political one-upmanship, let’s let him in on a little secret: this is going to backfire spectacularly. What the Kentucky MAGA Republican intended as a cudgel to bludgeon Democrats has instead cracked open a political Pandora’s box — one that, when Democrats retake the House next year and eventually the White House, could unleash a torrent of investigations straight toward Donald Trump, his family, his lieutenants like Vice President J.D. Vance, his cabinet, his donors and anyone else orbiting the MAGA galaxy.

Welcome to another episode of FAFO, MAGA.

For months, Comer has sought to frame the release and scrutiny of the Epstein files as a Democrat problem. GOP messaging has leaned into narratives that the Obama-Biden era tried to bury documents, that Epstein’s network and archives were somehow partisan dynamite yet to be set off, and that Republicans alone are the fearless seekers of sunshine and accountability.

Here’s the delicious twist of political fate: the strategy has lowered the barrier to future Democrats demanding the same level of scrutiny on Republican leaders. Dragging Bill and Hillary Clinton to testify before Congress sets a precedent, one that Democrats will be only too happy to exploit in the future.

Comer was never known for his brains.

They don’t or won’t realize it’s just propaganda and have for years.

Romney walked right into it in 2008.

The Clintons have volunteered to meet with them. In reality, they should have just told Comer & Co. to fuck off, get a lawyer, and sue for defamation. I mean, Republicans feel free to ignore subpoenas all the time.

They aren't "dragging the Clintons in."

I tell you one more thing that absolutely offends me to no end - the word "Democrat" being used instead of Democratic. A noun in place of an adverb or an adjective. Bad English, and absolutely meant to demean and humiliate.

On that note, I would so dearly love to see the word "Repuc" or even "Repug" used every single time the word "Republican" is used. Tit or tat... grade school gotchas. Why can't we throw some of these back at them? They use these demeaning words for decades, and it eventually takes a toll on us as a party. My gods! They even have a wordsmith just for this reason! Where is ours? For once, even it's something as petty as this that might take years to yield results, I say we have to fight fire with at least a little of our own fire.
