(CBS News) CBS News fact checked President Trump's 2026 State of the Union address Tuesday night, in which he highlighted his record on the economy, immigration and tariffs, and also assessed a claim made by Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger during her Democratic response.
Here are some of the claims and CBS News' ratings and context for those statements:

(9,595 posts)They call almost everything "misleading" that is pants on fire false.
"Trump claims tariffs are paid for by foreign countries" Misleading? No. Pants on fire false.
"Trump claims new MFN agreements mean Americans, who've paid "highest prices of any nation" for prescriptions will now pay "the lowest price anywhere"" Misleading? No. Pants on fire false.
"Trump suggests there are currently states that "rip children from their parents' arms and transition them to a new gender against the parents' will"" Misleading? Are you kidding me? They actually called this just misleading? This has never come remotely close to happening anywhere. Claims can't get any more false than this.
It's like this through the whole article.
CNN's fact check isn'tperfect, but it is far better than CBS.

Factcheck.org & Politifact were far better as well.
