Ryan has time for $100,000 checks, but not to debate

Paul Ryan will spend much of today in Wisconsin.
But the 1st District Republican congressional candidate won’t be debating with his credible challenger, Democrat Rob Zerban.

Rather, Ryan will be huddling behind closed doors with the wealthiest people in Wisconsin, shaking them down for campaign contributions.

One Ryan fundraising event, at the Harley-Davidson Museum in downtown Milwaukee, will raise money for Tommy Thompson’s struggling Senate campaign — which Thompson says is in trouble because of the weakness of the national Republican ticket on which Ryan is the vice presidential nominee.
The other Ryan fundraising event will be a session at Milwaukee’s upscale Pfister Hotel, where ticket prices will run as high as $100,000 a couple.

So Ryan has time to collect $100,000 checks.
But he doesn’t have time to debate the issues with his opponent for the congressional seat that pays Ryan’s salary.
