The GOP’s Karmic Retribution — The Iraq War

Karma’s a bitch.

That’s the lesson to be learned for the Republican Party about the Iraq War. At least that’s the conclusion I’ve come to after watching “Hubris,” MSNBC’s news special adaptation of a book by David Corn and Michael Isikoff. I don’t know when exactly I made the connection between the Iraq War and the ensuing ten years of political extremism of the Republican Party, but there is no denying it now. In a way, I feel like I’ve found at least one point of genesis for the current crop of neo-conservatives who eventually became Tea Partiers. And it all comes down to a lack of respect for the most basic law in the universe: truth will out.

The Iraq War was and remains to this day the biggest failure of foreign policy in my lifetime. I daresay of any life time. It distracted us from our honorable mission to bring Osama Bin-Laden to justice. It cost us trillions of dollars, and in the end did nothing to secure the region for democracy. It was bad, to put it bluntly. Just plain bad. And the new litmus test for intellect and the ability to handle reality like a rational adult is upon us: Do you still think the Iraq War was a good idea? And do you think they had weapons of mass destruction?

I promise you that anyone who who answers yes to those two questions voted for Mitt Romney, thought all the polls were wrong, and they probably watched that terrible “2016″ documentary and thought it contained anything resembling truth. It takes a suspension of disbelief to watch a movie like “The Avengers,” or “Star Wars.” But it takes a complete abandonment of the truth, a total rejection of the known universe, to buy into Republican dogma anymore.

The theme of 2012′s presidential election was simply “truth versus desired truth.” That is to say that one side of the political spectrum has decided to embrace what they want reality to look like, as opposed to the reality we actually face. The lies and half-truths of Mitt Romney’s campaign were just echoes of the run-up to the Iraq War. That war was as premeditated as any first degree murder, and it’s not like it took us all the way up to this point to figure out we were lied to. That’s what makes the GOP’s refusal to come to grips with this particular reality so difficult. Apparently John McCain and the others haven’t gotten the memo, and they’re still rigorously defending the Iraq War.

1. because the war was a big success

for th GOP; trillions of taxpayer dollars were transfered from the 99% to the wealthy elites. They would do it again in a heartbeat. The question is, will the Dems as well?

2. A friend of mine says the GOP must acknowledge its original sin

Or else. I agree. You can't pretend Iraq did not happen or not apologize/admit that you supported war criminals

I think SCOTUS will expedite their demise by making stupid rulings like overturning voting act
It may happen as early as '14 regardless gerrymandering/ voter suppression etc

3. If every ghost, of every victim, of every action

executed, master-minded, supported, or otherwise inflicted on the human race by the murderous, greedy, inhuman, short-sighted, cancerous members of the Republican party were to rise up and collectively curse the mothers of those bastards, it STILL would not be near enough retribution to begin to make Karmic equality a reality.
