MADISON – Gov. Scott Walker spent Wednesday at the Great Wall of China.

Apparently.

You wouldn’t know that, of course, from any information coming out of the governor’s office, which has refused to give all but the most general information about Walker’s trip to China.

And you certainly wouldn’t know it by tracking media coverage of the trip, which has relied almost exclusively on press releases coming from the governor’s office.

No, the only way to know the governor’s whereabouts Wednesday would have been to stumble upon a picture submitted on Twitter by a University of Wisconsin-Madison alumnus participating in the university’s “UWRightNow” social media event.

As Walker nears the end of his first trade mission to China, it’s becoming all-too-apparent that Wisconsin has all-too-much in common with the totalitarian country run by a government determined to keep the public in the dark and a state-run media that is entirely complicit in that goal.

Here’s what Wisconsinites – who are footing the bill for Walker’s Chinese excursion – aren’t being told about the trip:
