Who Among Our Leaders Aren’t Pro Jim Crow?

"What? Jim Crow”, you say? “Yeah, the War on Drugs is an utter failure, but it’s not keeping anyone from drinking at all-white drinking fountains. Drug users get what they’ve got coming to them. They steal and cause all sorts of unspeakable mayhem.” Some of that is true, to an extent. But three things seldom enter the conversation: 1. Not all drugs are the same 2. Despite higher-use of drugs in non-minority communities, minorities are arrested at much higher rates than non-minorities. 3. The crime associated with the drug trade is generated by government prohibition, which strips the trade of due process (drug dealers can’t sue each other) and adds more cost and risk with the potential of incarceration, making the drugs expensive, feeding the black market the government has fought unsuccessfully for over 40 years now."
