Spying issue won't go away, By Van Jones

(CNN) -- Recent revelations about the extent of government phone and Internet surveillance are already shaking up the national debate.

But these programs are just symptoms of broader changes that will be shaking up our government and society for many decades to come.

Let's not cheapen or simplify the debate by trying to ram these revelations into the GOP-friendly framework of "another Obama scandal."

We should be honest and admit that something much bigger than that is going on here. The implication of the issue for our politics will be felt long after today's round of political "gotcha" and "pin the tail on the donkey" has faded away.

This issue is bigger than Bush and Obama, though both are complicit. These events should be a stark reminder to all of us that it NO LONGER MATTERS WHO YOU VOTE FOR! ANYONE in power in this country has made their primary priorities 1) Keeping us divided 2) expand their own power 3) say whatever it takes to get re elected.

THIS IS THE STATUS QUO - and it is facilitated by BOTH of the major political parties. THERE IS NO SEPARATION ANY LONGER, if there ever was one to begin with.

I used to think the 90s were where this started, but I think it was the late 80s. Even Clinton is culpable with several of the things he did expanding government and corporate power just before he left office. And I LOVED that guy. :'(

We can no longer expect our elected leaders to represent the American way. ANY OF THEM. So we need to spend the next 4 years replacing ALL of them, every last one, with a 3rd party or independent candidate.

STOP BUYING INTO THE LEFT & RIGHT DIVISION RHETORIC! AND DEFINITELY STOP PROMOTING IT!!

If we don't, our children and their children will be slaves.
