OPed - Leticia Van de Putte: Standing with Texas Women

Leticia Van de Putte: Standing with Texas Women

While Wendy Davis was the most noticeable Senator on Tuesday night, Leticia Van de Putte came in that night with a heroic assist of her own. As many already know, she returned to Austin on the same day of her father's funeral to vote against SB5, and it was her final, dramatic parliamentary inquiry that set the Citizens' Filibuster off.

In today's Sunday Opinion, Senator Leticia Van de Putte explains why she stood with Wendy Davis and Texas women throughout the state.

Tomorrow, the fight resumes.

A simple 30 second parliamentary inquiry and the "chair" never again gained control of the gallery.

Wendy started this but after the filibuster failed with minutes to spare, Leticia Van de Putte's strategic inquiry made sure that Democrats had a chance.

This is high political art worthy of all accolades.

I will beg a mere 34 seconds of your time for a brief parliamentary inquiry:

I hope you agree with me.

BTW, if that wasn't enough, Senator Van de Putte buried her father that afternoon yet was in the chamber to support Wendy Davis and the cause. And she still had the clarity and resolve to be there and do this incredible thing. In sotto voce, no less.

for Senator Van de Putte.
I fell in love with her instantly. High art, indeed.

Regardless, if one DUer sees the original and my post, the effort was worth it.
