Ultimate Garage Sale: Corporations have Bought and Paid for America

Since Corporations were granted personhood by the Supreme Court it has been a garage sale in America. A rush to buy leaders in Washington and Austin has swollen the cash pipeline. Influence is bought and paid for.

While no laws may have been broken it is hard to compete with the fistfuls of cash that is being thrust at members of both parties. Our own local Congressman has benefited immensely since opening his piggybank in Washington, having improved in his assets by 66% since 2004 (now worth 11.4 million by Washington Post report). Randy (Neugebauer) is now the 50th wealthiest member of Congress and nothing beats having your own yacht when you need to get away from stress.

Companies like Pearson Assessment have, under the banner of high-tech progress, hired corporate lobbyists that have rammed through legislation privatizing K-12 education across the country and requiring standardized testing in the amount of hundreds of millions of dollars.

Just look at the financial disclosure sheet for any who serve in our legislative bodies and you can see who is porking out.

While other bloggers put forth the question of whether America has been stolen by the political parties the real culprit is the corporate monies that are behind these politicians.

Distracting citizens with such topics as where the president vacations, racy photos of male members, and “Poopgate” in Austin we forget to watch the cash drawer as it is emptied.

Enough with the daily dribble of how much some hate our President. No more with the fear of the approaching UN tanks. Lift up the curtain and witness who is really at fault. Corporate shills and the trunks of money they pass out.
