Day 8 of BLINDNESS - 4 way stop signs, cake!!, and lots of stabbin'
Days 1 - 7 here

I went out again on the city streets. 5 blocks - 3 street crossings. The last was at a 4 way stop sign. When I decided I was ready the car that pulled up to the stop sign waited...and waited...and waited. I finally looked over at the car and waved him on. Blind people cross side streets and 4 way stops WITH traffic (not when no cars are moving around) - the cars tell them that they are aligned and provide "cover". As you initiate the crossing at 4 way stops the car heading the same direction (having the right of way) provides cover from a car that might be on the street you are crossing AND cover from cars that might be turning left on to the street you are crossing. If you are ever at a stop sign and see a blind person who is going the same way - GO - you are their key to make the move.
I wrote Braille with a stylus (lots of stabbin'). Since your read left to right you have to write it right to left and put the dots in "backward" -- but don't EVER use the word "backward" near a Braille instructor.
Oh and I made a cheesecake.
